Hello! I'm Tina.

Welcome to New Insights Therapy.  I am a qualified and experienced therapist, who can help you mange a range of emotional difficulties.

ABOUT ME

At 18, I discovered my passion for providing emotional support for people, after volunteering for the National Schizophrenia fellowship (now Rethink).  A year later, I was selected by the Rank Foundation and received sponsorship, to become a specialist youth worker.  After 6 years, I gained my first degree, a BA Honours in Informal & Community Education and experience of working with young people.

I moved on to providing counselling for individuals with drug and alcohol problems.  Alongside this, I delivered training workshops for young people and professionals to raise the awareness of the effects of drugs and alcohol.  After several years, I was promoted to manage a busy drugs and alcohol service.

During this time, I decided to attend the Regents University, a leading institution for academic and clinical practice and completed my Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling here.

After 7 years of providing support in the drugs and alcohol field, I moved onto working for the NHS.  Here I provided counselling and advocacy support to victims of sexual violence, at a sexual assault referral centre.  I trained as an ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Adviser) in order to support individuals who had been affected by sexual violence.

I have been seeing clients in private practice since 2014 and work with individuals in need of support over a range of emotional difficulties.  These include  depression, anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, sexual violence, addictions and much more.  I accept referrals from EAPS, private medical insurances, solicitors, GPs and self referrals.

I really believe despite a lot of life's challenges, we can develop the ability to explore, understand and change the way we respond to some of these challenges.  I have experienced this on a personal level and encourage it in my work with others. We generally don't see the world as it is, but as we are.
